College is easy for the super smart or the super lazy who take easy classes and stroll by with a C average. Which were you? _________________

NO! You can't be both. Because that would cause a rift in time and space and would destroy Los Angeles. Wait. EVERYONE QUICK!! Try to be both! _________________

What about not taking easy classes, not studying, and still rocking the 3.0?
35 page research paper in 5 days ftw.
I'll just consider myself the "super smart." _________________

I was fairly smart, didn't really take 'easy classes', but college still didn't work out for me. I just got overwhelmed and depressed and had to drop out, about 2/3 of the way through sophomore year. It was not a good time for me.
I still vaguely entertain the idea of going back sometimes, but I don't know how well it would actually work out, to be honest. Most of what I want to do doesn't necessarily require a degree, either; plus like I said before, the stuff I want to study is only offered at far away colleges. |

It's all about the teacher, and less about the subject.
Two history classes:
Class A: I went to, like, 3 classes. I read the book. Showed up for the final. Got mesself a B+ for the class.
Class B: showed up for EVERY class. Studied my ass off. Took notes. I got by on a C-.
I've, at two separate times rocked a 4.0, and lugged a 1.6. Once I learned how to "game the system", I coasted at a comfy 3.0. _________________ "Addiction can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only be changed."

I think it depends a lot on how much you like the subject.
Since I'm engineering student, I had to take a "project evaluation" class, exercises were easy but so boring that i never made them the right way.
(I had to fill a fucking table, with data for each month)
And the teacher was good, fun and everything, but nothing made me do it right I failed that class awfully (passed it the second time). _________________ "just imagine a good signature, and then put it here" |

So what are your suggestions for "gaming the system" Dave?
I always felt like it came down to "I can either learn the material or pass the course, but not both." which sucked. |

WARNING: The Following Is Not To Be Taken Seriously
Find out about your professors!
Find out which ones are engaging and "test" you while in class with conversation. You know, the teachers that talk to the class and have them engaged in discussion.
Avoid "memorize 1000 things" teachers. These are the ones that talk AT the class. You tend to only retain what you need for a test, then forget most/all of the info. I.E. you learn nothing and worked your ass off.
Take one "easy class" every quarter/semester. You use that class time to catch up on other classes' material, or to decompress. This means you should always keep a few undergrad classes around throughout your school life.
Essentially, the key here is do your homework on your prof., and go for classes that have you "work smarter, not harder". _________________ "Addiction can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only be changed."

Your quaint solution Fails, however, when you have to take a language course which is primarily rote memorization.
I would suggest looking inward, Madcat, to seek a higher truth about yourself. Classes come and go and bad teachers are a dime-a-dozen. What's truly important is what you bring to the learning table and what you take from it in return. _________________ Conan! What is best in life?

Listen to Trebuchet, MadCat. What I posted was meant to be humorous. I really hope you didn't take me seriously.
Actually, I'm going to edit the post just to be safe. My apologies if that post causes any harm to anyones scholastic progress. _________________ "Addiction can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only be changed."
