So Seattle's got all of that and more, I take it. _________________ Conan! What is best in life?

| Not sure about Seattle; I've heard it has those things, which is why it would be my pick outside of Oregon, but I'd rather stay in Oregon, so Portland or Corvallis or one of those more northerly cities here would be my first choices. |

Corvallis? Sounds like some sort of medieval trading city, or a fort-town from some fantasy game, "Mount up captain! Tomorrow we ride to Corvallis and Siege!!" _________________ <(@_@<), <(@_@)>, (>@_@)>, <(@_@)>, <(@_~)>, <(@_@)>, <(@_@<) |

ROFL!! Pars and Dave tickled my funny bone there.
Well, at this point I'm like Schroedinger's (Mad) Cat, existing in a quantum state of both Yay! and Boo!
Yay! I got a Job!
Boo! It involves being on the phones all day.
Yay! I'm making more money!
Boo! I have less time for my artwork!
Yay! I'm working at the same place as my Mom!
Boo! I have to go out and deal with people! >_<
I'm so torn. ; ; Sigh. But between a pay raise and some shift differential pay, I should be pulling in about $10.20 an hour, which is good! (for where I live, where wages are kind of low compared to other places) As long as I can handle all the customer service and phone stuff the job requires. I've never really done that before, so I'm scared stiff! But we've got a lot of bills to pay, so I need to get workin!
Wish me luck! |

good luck!
here's how i handle customer service(which i do now)
never, ever take it personally. "you" or "you guys" = your store or company, not madcat.
always be polite. attitude will just escalate things. raising your voice will raise their voice. however there is no excuse for cussing. check them if they do, never heard an instance where they fought back after being asked to stop cussing. at my work we can hang up on them if they persisted.
do everything you can for them but inform them when you're going out of your way for something. not to hype yourself up but so they don't take you for granted. it'll also disarm them for when you still can't help them after going out of your way.
hope this helps _________________ Steve

Thank you for the advice. I'll definitely try to keep that in mind; it should help.
I've always been introverted and shy and hated speaking on phones, so this job is about as far from my comfort zone as I can get in terms of personal interaction. Hence the copious amounts of fear. lol! |

i'm the same. the fact that i'm on the phone and not face to face helps out a lot!
i usually try to seem busy so i don't have to small talk. lol _________________ Steve
