I would have probably been at Dave's desk being like "what the fuck?" "Put a news comment explaining that, cuz I'm fuckin' lost" blah blah blah.

Not everyone got D.A.R.E. like we did I guess.

Ah, D.A.R.E....when children didn't know what mesc, ludes, pot, or blow were or what kinds of places they could score them, the police stepped in and told you /all/ about it.

Dan, here's something to keep in mind: If you have to explain the joke to me, chances are that a large amount of the readers will need an explanation as well.

Whenever Dee sends me a script, if I don't get it, he knows that the script risks not hitting with many of the readers. Sometimes an explanation's all that's needed. At others, he may need to redo the strip (can't recall the last time something that drastic was needed).

With that said, I thought you included the explanation specifically for me to post it with the strip for the very reasons I just pointed out. Instead, I find myself insulted :p

As much as I want to agree with this... I can't.

Or obscure kung fu movies.

Yeah, but this /is/ the internet. Obscure Kung-Fu movies are a Nerd thing, and Nerds /made/ this great wide internet which all the soccer moms are looking up recipes and lesbian porn on. If you talk about Godzilla or kung fu or games or whatever you're bound to get someone responding....its like throwing a plushie into a anime shop: you're likely to hit hentai.

I'll admit. As a full blown carnivore, I had ZERO chance of understanding a salad joke. Any vegetarian who didn't know is a bad vegetarian, imo.

I think that strip would have owned my face off if I knew the stuff ahead of time.

The point is that I'm fairly "ignant" on a lot of things. Comedy is best when it hits as many people as possible. I mentioned Chris Rock, Joe Rogan, and Robin Williams on the "ask Mike shit" thread as part of a question. The reason WHY I mention those three specifically was because their comedy hits with a large base. I "get it". I don't need to know much to get it.

Questionable Content. The dude who does that is wordy as hell, and he references things I have no clue on, but he explains it in his strips through natural conversation, so at the end of the strip, I "get it" and I learned something new to boot.

You're more than welcome to do it on your own, you don't HAVE to do anything.
