I didn't know that Christmas was based on Mithraism to get them to more readily accept Christianity.

Or that Easter was a compromise to get some of the Germanic people, being that their goddess of fertility was something like Eastaro (fuck if I remember the name). But she was always pictured with a rabbit. And a rabbit was a more PC for 'em than a big woman with the childbearing hips and the knockers the size of my body.

And Christmas trees weren't a ploy to get the Pagans to be more accepting of Christianity either... because it wasn't the Christians giving them tree-worshiping people a tree that related to Christianity.

And Christians DEFINITELY were NOT pacifists until the time that Constantine said "Okay, it won't be outlawed anymore if you agree to fight in our armies."

Next time you wanna open up and call me ignorant, use the right terminology. I know plenty about religion. Question my faith, not my knowledge.

That's cute. Did you just look those up on Wikipedia just now? I was wondering why you were taking so long to reply. Just because you can spout a bunch of revisionist history at me doesn't impress me in the slightest. Spewing a few facts around about a religion doesn't mean you know jack squat about it.

If you're basing your ridicule of all things religious on a few tidbits from history, I'd say that's very sad. It doesn't even get past Pascal's gamble. No one is questioning your ability to think or to learn, but you need to be more respectful towards things that you don't understand at all.

Also, all that shit is totally from Wikipedia... You NAILED it. I never had to take any form of religious history class during my time majoring in History. And I never studied Philosophy either! Not at all.

I never said there was anything in believing in God or whatever religion. I figure whatever helps somebody get through life is a good thing for 'em, regardless of any sort of proof. Who the fuck needs proof when ya got feelings and such. So yeah, more power to all the Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Scientologists (even though ya'll are fucked up). and whoever else. I get through my own way, if ya wanna be intolerant, go for it.

Never said I was an expert... but when you claim I don't know jack shit it's not like you're doing much better, slick. So stop going with the extremes. I know that I'm not some in depth religious scholar... but I know what I did see I didn't really like.

I never said those things were reasons to not believe, but those things are issues that I dislike about the structure and history of the established Churches.

Also, I still fail to see where I busted out with intolerance. If I did on accident, whoops, my bad. If I did it on purpose, I'm more hungover than I thought.

Okay, so back when I said "did you just show off the closed-mindedness" for saying that God wouldn't listen to me... THAT'S where it broke.

So like... I think we were both assholes pretty quick there... cuz you said God wouldn't listen to me (liar!) and I said what I said.

When you said "let's get righteous on some Evangelical ASS!" you were talking about a whole group of people. You may have meant it for that particular bitch we all love to hate but you were using very broad strokes to paint that picture. I'm merely pointing that out to you.

When I said you don't know jack shit about religion - that's a truth. Only people who don't know what they're talking about use trite language to mask their lack of understanding regarding a particular subject - be it religion or politics or whatever. If it sounded like I meant you lacked knowledge, then my bad. I never meant to say that you were not knowledgeable. But consider this: a Christian (for 20 years) and a student of the Bible is telling you that you don't know what you're talking about in regards to his religion and your reaction is "don't tell me I don't know shit cuz I went to college and stuff(paraphrase)." That's the traditional response when true understanding is lacking.

Anywho... about the Evangelical thing, that was more or less a joke. It sounded cooler than "Let's get righteous on some backwater redneck whore."

And in all serious-ness... you CAN'T tell me you saw Jesus Camp and didn't go "wtf."

And yeah, the history behind it isn't reason to NOT believe. I'm not trying to convince anybody... I personally dislike the established church because I really have studied the change it's gone through, and I disagree with it.

I like the philosophy behind it and I'm glad it helps people. I'm not saying there's no God out there, or whatever... I just don't know what's out there... I just really DO dislike the established system... because people are fucked up throughout history.

Anywho... next time we have one of these fights, let's just get it over with and see who's penis REALLY is bigger.
