Anyone know when the next Pratchett book comes out?
The last book I got was "Thud!". If there's one after it, what is it?

Well, there was "That's not my cow!" whcih was relised right after thud, but the next proper book is called "Making Money" and it's set for October. I think it's going to be about the A-M Mint, which I suppose would make it the third in the "A-M Public Services" series after The Truth and Going Postal.

Don't forget "Unseen Academicals" which is the Discworld "Soccer Movie", complete with totally cheesy orangutan goalie.

You're right, Dan. I just found that out today at the book store. It's starring Moist again (from "Going Postal"). I liked the character, so I'm glad, although I'd love to see another book with the cast of "The Truth".

Now how much longer for another book with the AM Watch, is what I want to know?

Doesn't the cast of The Truth appear in both Going Postal and The Monstrous Regiment? They've been popping up, so it's possible they might get another book.

Also, I think it would be hard to top Night Watch and Thud! as far as the Watch stories go. Those were phenomenal stories.

Oh, I agree, but there it is. I thought Nightwatch was it, no way to top it. Then along came Thud!. Pratchett can pull it off, I'm sure.

Would have to agree that the Watch books are the best. But right now I'm reading the witches books and their pretty interesting too. I'm not far enough along to know if I need another one though. But you have to love Granny Weatherwax

No, no you really don't. In fact, I don't. I read Pratchett books in spite of her being in there. I love the UU stuff, Tales of the Nightwatch stuff, and the general Disc stuff. The witches stuff? Not so much.

Two favorite books: Pyramids. Soulmusic.
Have both, in hardcover, signed.

I understand you not liking the Witches books, but you really should read more of the books. I'm still stunned that you got me hooked on the series, yet you've only read like the first handfull of the books.

I've read everything up to "The Last Continent" along with several other side books/stories and such. I just haven't read some of the recent stuff. And some witch stuff.

Okay, I guess I can move up my timeline then. I've read "Interesting Times" and own "Thud!" which is how I got the two hardcovers signed. I'll get to the newer stuff at a later date.

I've read everything but Going Postal and I'm sure I'll get around to that. In my opinion the "must reads" are:

1. Small Gods (Unequivocally the book which resonated most with me personally, it's also the most separate and therefore accessible to people who are new to discworld, with the exception of maybe the first fre Rincewind books but those aren't as... um... good.)
2. Pyramids (I was actually reading Pyramids for the first time when my father died. In fact, the night before the accident I had put the book down right after Teppic found out that his father had died. Reading Pyramids actually helped me get through all the madness going around then. if only by giving me something else to think about,)
3. Night Watch (In my opinion the deepest and most well written watch book, it really gives the best invite into Vimes character. I have to disagree with dave here I don't think "Thud!" topped it. Not by a longshot)
4. The Truth (I've always loved stories about reporters. I also hope there's another book focusing on those characters.)
5. Soul Music or Thief of Time in a 50/50 split(I can't choose, sorry)

And, as much as I love Pratchett, there are a few "skip it"'s

1. The Last Continent (To be honest I got so bored that i put it down halfway through. The Only time that's happened with a Pratchett book.
2. Moving Pictures (Meh.)
3. Maskerade (Weakest Witch book, which are not strong to begin with.)
4. Monstrous Regiment (Also Meh.)
5. Hogfather (weakest Death/Susan book.)
