Circuit City lays off 3400 low level employees and then re-hire 3400 low level employees at a lower wage.

If you go to their web page ( and look up the careers section, here's what you'll find, "Circuit City is a place where everyone is included and valued for their contributions to the company. In fact, respecting our Associates is one of our values—it's the way we run our business." Yeah, they really show it.

I hear say that the work ethic is all but dead with those of us under the age of 30. If that really is the case, then should it come as any surprise when we see an employee's loyalty be rewarded by actions such as the ones taken by Circuit City?

Anyway, just wanted to vent this.

P.S. If you have any interest in reading up on this, just do a google search for "circuit city layoffs".

I'm well aware of my age, thank you. :p

I'm just pointing out a piece of news I read and how much I think it sucks.

The dead blonde in every single news story or board anywhere. The one who's cluttering up everything and not allowing actual news to be presented. The one I'm sick of hearing about and know damn well you are too.

See, my response was my brain having filled her away under "not important". I had happily forgotten her for a couple of hours. Thanks for putting her back in the front line of my thoughts.

And yes, I'm sick of her too. I wish she didn't die so I wouldn't have to hear about her whenever I want to hunt for REAL news.

Well now that the whole Anna Nicole thing is safely locked away in the history vaults, hopefully with a straight jacket and padded walls, we now will see a barrage of nightly specials about the Viginia Tech shooting. "The Largest Mass Murder in History!" That being said, I wonder how long it will take for some filthy vulture to pick up the movie rights and create a made for tv movie on the big screen AGAIN. And yes I really think this is the worst thing about the shootings, the fact that someone will eventually capitalize on such a tragedy. Sad

Worst necropost EVER! but I think this has to be said. Odds are, by the time Joel wrote this, Jack Thompson was already on TV starting his new assault on videgames. I know he was on mere hours after the massacre, and that is what disgusts me more than anything. We didn't even know who the shooter was, but Jack had seen his computer and interviewed his friends and knew that the shooter was immersed in violent videogames.

However just when you think real news exists you get dozens of stories about Paris Hilton and what political candidates are wearing.

How about this one?:
http://www.kevinandbeanarchive.com/audio.php?dir=audio%2F-------July%2027-%20Friday-----&file=02%20Show%20Biz%20Beat-2007-07-27-6%20am.mp3

On a tangentally related note: how do I truncate a link down to a phrase? I.E. Aranthos writes "Click HERE" and the second word in the link?

Again I must state as a disclaimer, lest I be sued, that you use [] brackets instead of () brackets.

Dunno if you saw my rantings about the V-Tech shootings, they are somewhere in the forums, but go find em if you want a skewed view of em. Very Happy
