It's for situations like that strip that I want a tablet though. Drawing with the mouse sucks. _________________ Blake: "Tally ho, chocks away old chap"

All of the drawings I've put up have been done with a mouse. I'm getting pretty used to it. _________________ Mercy is the mark of a great man.

Most of my woek is done by mouse and I'm fine with it because it's mainly vector work, it's just that when I do a strip like this one (ie - the guest strip for you guys) I feel like it'd be much beter done with a tablet, for the hand drawn look to work properly.
And before anyone mentions it, my scanner is broken. _________________ Blake: "Tally ho, chocks away old chap"

Scanners are cheap... Like 50 bucks for a decent one... as an artist... I would think one is a must I got a Canon CanoScan scanner. It is light and slim... USB power only... _________________ Monkey of the technical type.

No. He will master the art of drawing via complex mathematical equations on his computer. _________________ "Addiction can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only be changed."

In all honesty I'd prefer to wait a few days until I've got the cash for a tablet than to go out and get a scanner now. I'd only use the scanner forthe occasional piece of stuff, the tablet could be used for anything I can use my mouse for. Besides, a $50 in your wonderful country (semi-sarcasm) would probably cost our equivalent of $80 here. Still not a huge sum, but I'm saving up for car parts (restoring an '83 Mini), PC hardware (3D card got fritzed by my last PSU) and much other stuff. Inclusing a $400 PC monitor.
I shall end my whinging there.
James, I'm no artist. I can't draw for shit. Truth. However, I'm sure that if I invest in a tablet (and thus can draw to my heart's content without using paper) I will do several things:
Become better at drawing through practice
Have fun, probably through sending various phallic doodles to my family
Actually use some of the tools in Photoshop
Enjoy strategy games more.
Who wouldn't prefer to be able to tap a pad to give orders? It'd be so much cooler than a mouse... Dave, have you tried that? In case anyone cares and/or can offer advice, I've been looking mostly at Wacom Graphyre's. Of course, I'd like a Cintiq but $2,600 (from E-Bay) is a bit steep for me, as awesome as they are. _________________ Blake: "Tally ho, chocks away old chap"

[Aranthos] If you're serious about using your tablet extensively to make good art on your computer, then do NOT get a Wacom Graphire. Repeat: Do NOT get a Wacom Graphire. You want to get yourself an Wacom Intuos.
The cheapest will run you $230 in U.S. currency, which would net you a Wacom Intuos3 4x6. I myself am using a Wacom Intuos3 9x12, the largest tablet I could fit on my desk. That'd run you $450 U.S.
IF you're blessed with disposable cash, then by all means go all the way and get yourself a wacom Cintiq. Being able to see WHERE you're drawing is huge, however, an Intuos is a professional grade tablet and will serve you just fine.
P.S. Photoshop 7 and up goes great with the tablet. _________________ "Addiction can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only be changed."

The Mini will kick ass. We bought some paint and tested it on the bonnet (which we're dumping and replacing). Looks effing awesome. Imagine a slightly mottled grey (yes, we did mix it enough ), with metallic flakes and a very very slight green tint. Then imagine a Mini, slightly lowered, with its roof down (convertible) in that colour. Then iagine it raining heavily. Now you are about halfway to seeing how awesome the car is and how disappointing our weather is. _________________ Blake: "Tally ho, chocks away old chap"

Do you really need to make a mini closer to the ground? Awesome car though. _________________ ~jynx~

No, Minis don't really need to be lowered, but with suspension as awful as it is (I haven't got a Cooper sadly) every littl helps.
And actually the lowered-ness was due to come after I've got it on the road, we're not gonna be modding it before then. Insurance is expensive enough as it is for me. _________________ Blake: "Tally ho, chocks away old chap"
