Since the topic that Dan and Helen are discussing is Roman Catholicism, I think Jesus is wholly apropos.

I dunno, according to some born again Christians I've talked to Roman Catholicism has NOTHING to do with Jesus. It's just a pagan cult with a thin Christian facade.

That may very well be true, but anecdotes aside, you have to admit that Roman Catholicism and Jesus pretty much go hand-in-hand. This is from one of those "born again" Christians-----> me.

Umm. I think that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and Jesus go hand and hand. Roman Catholicism and Jesus go cash in hand.

I totally agree, however if we were to do a Family Feud style poll on "Things related to Roman Catholicism" the number one answer would probably be "funny hats" followed by "men who wear the funny hats", "stale crackers", and "pedophilia". "Jesus" is up there, but would be the answer that makes everyone slap their heads when they realize they didn't get it. Then Richard Dawson makes fun of you.

Notice I did say "some" born again Christians, not "all". Not all Christians who are "born again" are like that, so I'll rephrase the statement.

According to some "Closed Minded Evangelical Christians that Annoy The Hell Out Of Me" I've talked to Roman Catholicism has NOTHING to do with Jesus. It's just a pagan cult with a thin Christian facade.

The pagan deal is thanks to all the Angels and Saints that get "worshiped".

After talking with many a family member from a family that's 99.9% Roman Catholic (I'm the designated "Atheist" even though I'm not :p ), it seems that the reason many Catholics, at least Mexican Roman Catholics, seem to pray to saints rather than God is that, somewhere along the lines, they were made to feel that they need to petition a saint, or an angel, to speak to God on their behalf.

Argh, am I the only completely atheist person here? If so, I'm noticing a pattern... The only non-American person is also the only non-believing person...

Coincidence? Yes, but my point stands.

You're the only non believer Aranthos? Interesting. I am a believer. I believe in humanity to continually destroy itself. Very Happy
All the funny aside, I actually do believe this Wink

I definitely agree with Arturo. Belief, Faith, and Ideas are essential in the strive to survive. In fact, I believe so strongly in faith that I got "Faith" in mandarin tattooed to my wrist.

Belief in yourself is a must, otherwise you're just depending on something/someone else for you strength. On a side note, I am a cynical bastard aren't I? Cool

Marriage is a very interesting topic...Dan pray tell why you and Helen are jumping the gun. I mean did she take your proposition that seriously. Maybe this Helen needs to be created in real life then because if that's the case then she needs to be your girlfriend now. You know to serve your every need and then punch you in the face when you step out of line. (sorry I'm rambling now)

I think Dan will have enough if it happens in fiction.
