So I was convinced I was gonna skip Guitar hero, but after reading the previews, it sounds good... adn in the very least, has an awesome set list. Anyways... the main question... I know Harmonix is trying to make the rock band guitar compatible with old GH games.... so... is the GH guitar gonna be able to play with Rock Band?

Basically I want to play multiplayer on both games and I want to see if I have to cry about buying 2 guitars for rock band, and 1 for GH... or wait and buy both games at once (but blah to that, I want 'em now).

Anybody got any ideas? (Dee???)

For anyone interested (and not familiar with the announced tracks) I bring you, the song list thus far...

· Slash's Original Boss Battle Recording
· Welcome to The Jungle (by Guns N' Roses)
· Paint It Black (by The Rolling Stones)
· Cherub Rock (by Smashing Pumpkins)
· Sabotage (by Beastie Boys)
· The Metal (by Tenacious D)
· My Name is Jonas (by Weezer)
· Knights of Cydonia (by Muse)
· Even Flow (by Pearl Jam)
· Lay Down (by Priestess)
· Cult of Personality (by Living Colour)
· Rock and Roll All Nite (as made famous by Kiss)
· School's Out (as made famous by Alice Cooper)
· Rock You Like a Hurricane (as made famous by Scorpions)
· Slow Ride (as made famous by Foghat)
· Barracuda (as made famous by Heart)

Just announced:
· Miss Murder (by AFI)
· Through Fire and Flames (by Dragonforce)
· Number of the Beast (by Iron Maiden)
· 3's and 7's (by Queens of the Stone Age)
· Suck My Kiss (by Red Hot Chili Peppers)
· Raining Blood (by Slayer)
· Reptillia (by The Strokes)
· Paranoid (as made famous by Black Sabbath)
· Cities on Flame (as made famous by Blue Oyster Cult)
· Mississippi Queen (as made famous by Mountain)

Personally, I'm staying out of this whole "using instrument controllers to play music on your consoles" battle, but that isn't a bad song list.

You're probably gonna have to end up buying a guitars for both games, but if you really don't wanna spend the money look on ebay, or looked in the used games section, theny probably have used controller since you have to use a wireless controller to play GH on the PS3

A Conversation I Had About "Rock Band" With a Friend (whom I can't exactly recall):

Friend: Have you seen the controllers for Rock Band?
Dan: No. They're like the guitars for Guitar Hero, right?
F: Yeah, but Rock Band's guitars are going to have ten frets.
D: Ten Frets? Jesus! You might as well learn how to ACTUALLY play guitar.
F: That's not as fun, and it's still probably harder.
D: Slightly harder, but learning to play a real guitar is WAY more likely to impress the ladies.
F: Hmmm. Good point.

5 frets are just for soloing... basically you can hit them without strumming... so you can get through wild shit... woulda loved 'em for Hangar 18.

Oh it's so exciting. except that's gonna be a 300 dollar adventure in Oct/Nov for both games.

Good good stuff. Smile

You can always wait it out for another paycheck or two. Its not exactly like you're cursed with an abundance of space in your room at present.

Some of you may or may not have known this already, but the following is a quick heads up to those that haven't.

On/around October 23rd Activision will be released a demo for "Guitar Hero III" on Xbox Live. Its scheduled to appear first as a pack in disc for the new Tony Hawk game two weeks earlier on the 9th, but for those with a bit of patience/less interest in buying a game for it rest assured that both versions of the demo are stated as containing the same content.

Song list for the demo follows:

Lay Down (by Priestess)
Even Flow (by Pearl Jam)
The Metal (by Tenacious D)
Hit Me with your Best Shot (as made famous by Pat Benatar)
Rock You like a Hurricane (as made famous by Scorpions)

Dammit! "as made famous by Scorpions".....

For the record: learning to play a real guitar is MUCH more difficult than learning to play Guitar Hero.
