A misogynistic and snobbish phonetics professor agrees to a wager that he can take a flower girl and make her presentable in high society. -IMDB Plot outline.

I remember watching this in my high school English class and wondering why the teacher would waste our time on such an old movie. While everyone else tittered and chatted with each other, I fell in love with Audrey Hepburn.

The sad part is most people would see it and go, "That's just like that one episode of "Family Guy" where Brian bet Stewie." I myself haven't seen it, but I am familiar with the story.

It's too bad Hepburn didn't do her own singing. A voice double named Debbie Nixon did all her singing parts because Hepburn's singing voice wasn't quite up to scratch.

Since they couldn't "clean it up" like they can now it was either a vocal double or a whole lot of lessons.

It would have been nice to have some audio of her trying though, just to know.

A number of years ago TMC did a special on the movie and Debbie Nixon was interviewed on the program as well as a sound clip of Hepburn's attempt at the songs. It wasn't terrible, but let's just say we wouldn't be talking about the movie today if they had gone through with Hepburn's own voice.
