LCW Showdown Television Results 10.24.07
In one of the most shocking nights in the history of Legends Championship Wrestling, The Iron Sheik took LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway and Baby Doll hostage at gunpoint, with tragic results.

News Update] Doctors Reveal Calaway Died Twice During Surgery
During an operation to remove two bullets, one from his shoulder and one from his chest, the latter surgery which was unsuccessful even after a second attempt earlier today, LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway died twice while on the operating table doctors revealed today in a press conference.

Calaway was rushed to the hospital only moments after LCW Showdown went off the air last Wednesday. Calaway, along with Baby Doll, was taken hostage, at gunpoint, by The Iron Sheik. Sheik, who was disgruntled after losing his job in a loser leaves LCW match to Jake "The Snake" Roberts at last Sunday's LCW Night of Horrors pay-per-view, apparently blamed Calaway for the loss and told police after the incident that he had felt persecuted by the Chairman for months which forced the Iranian to focus his rage and anger on Calaway.

Sheik took Calaway and Baby Doll hostage at the beginning of last Wednesday's episode of LCW Showdown, and despite efforts from Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie, the Iron Sheik's manager, Nikolai Volkoff, the Iron Sheik's former tag team partner, and others, it was LCW Commissioner Nick Bockwinkel's urging of the Sheik to release the cameraman who was also being held captive, that sparked the events that would lead to Calaway being shot. The cameraman tripped exiting the office which distracted Sheik and gave Baby Doll an opening to attempt to wrestle the gun away from Shiek. However, the gun accidentally went off twice and shot Calaway once in the shoulder and once in the chest.

The doctors who operated on Calaway only minutes after he arrived at the hospital said that the bullet in his shoulder was successfully removed, but the bullet that went into his chest was too close to his heart to remove immediately. They worked to remove the bullet in his chest first as it was initially considered the most life threatening, but were unsuccessful and quickly moved to remove the bullet from his shoulder. They managed to stop the bleeding around the chest wound, removed the bullet from Calaway's shoulder and then attempted a second surgery this afternoon which also met with failure to remove the bullet, which was only three centimeters from his heart. Doctors worry that any further attempts to remove the bullet could irrevocably damage Calaway's heart.

The Iron Sheik has been placed under house arrest pending possible charges from the District Attorney who is currently investigating the situation and is waiting for a meeting with Calaway when he's feeling better.

People will start pointing fingers at "drugs" and steroids immediately, but they need to get him under a catscan and check for aggravated concussions and brain lesions. Read a really good article recently via a Canadian national paper about how many wrestlers end up feeble/unstable due to head trauma that isn't allowed to heal because of their schedules. Apparently Chris Benoit had the brain of a 85 year old man in the advanced stages of Alzheimers. I would have linked the article earlier but they (and we) were having site problems. There was even a interview with Brett "The Hitman" Hart concerning his own problems.
