So Dee wanted to hear what I had to say about the MPAA giving more severe ratings to movies with smoking in them?
Well for starters I've been smoking or chain smoking for the better part of 10 years now. Where did I pick up the influence? Who fucking cares? A movie is a movie for no other purpose than the personal enjoyment of those that go and see them. Why the fuck does the MPAA believe that putting a harsher rating on movies that present smoking in a glamorized fashion means ANYTHING!? There are studies out there that show if a person has not started smoking by the age of 18 then they most likely will not develop the habit, something like 95% will not. So these studies may actually give credit to the MPAAs actions of harsher ratings, BUT isn't it the job and duty of the parental figures in the household to guide their children not to begin detrimental habits? Now I look at the way youth are being raised everyday at work and believe that the way we are raising youth today is the problem. The fact that the parental figures are NOT present and are NOT guiding their children, not a fucking cigarette in a movie that the child probably shouldn't be watching anyway.

Though it would be kind of ironic if either Joel or the person who influenced him to start had subconsciously done it because of movies.

Just saying:P

Well the problem with the subconsciousness is that we'll never know the truth. Anyway if you want to trace my own personal thoughts on where I picked it up from I'll explain. Grew up around it, as in uncles at family gatherings not movies or TV. Parents never explained that it was a bad thing, never had an education about them being bad for me; so how was I supposed to know any better? Ignorance is definitely something I detest, which is why I wish I could go back to my senior year in high school and slap the shit outta myself. Confused Why don't I quit? Good question. Here's the answer, why? For my health, sorry my job stole that. Image, I could give a rats ass about. Friends healths from second hand, they never seemed to care about it. Money, I end up spending almost as much on a gallon of gas as I would on a pack of cigs. So all in all you might say I don't really care anymore.

I guess I shoulda noticed that... Looks like I've some time to wait if I want to get the 1000th. Not sure I can be bothered waiting that long, maybe I'll just be a normal forumite until then.
