At least according to this article.

I love it when people actually play the game before they review it.

I haven't played the game. Watched my roommate play. It looks like Kotr sort of. I really need to stop playing WoW so I can experience other games out there but sadly I think the only thing that will end the WoW addiction is Starcraft 2.

Mike = Ungodly good at that game. Too much time spent on it. Wonder how much of that'll transfer to SC3

Transfer to SC2. Fool.

I was okay at WC3, but Starcraft WAS MY DOMINATION game.

Poor poor Joel... he was once the king, then I came back to the LAN party after years of practice.

I think Mike will be 50+ before SC3 comes out on the Virtual chip installed in our cybernetic brains. Lets focus on something a bit closer like SC2. But that should have it's own thread.

If you said SC4 I'd believe that.

Starcraft had the kick-ass storyline, imaginative world, and rich characters but for sheer gameplay innovation I have to go with Age of Empires II: Age of Kings. That's the game that introduced such innovations like squad formations where your column travels at the speed of the slowest unit and maintains its tactical formation throughout its march; build and forget resource hording where your peasants build the resource structure (mine, lumber camp, etc.) then immediately begin gathering that resource before automatically moving on to the next closest resource site. The game made such mundane tasks easy so you, the general, could focus on more important things like strategy and what color robe you're going to wear to your victory march.

Yes, age of empires 2 rocks.
Please, correct me if I'm wrong but I think Age of empires was the first one in having a numbered range for ranged attack units like archers, that was pretty useful for your strategy.

A numbered range? You mean like when you move your mouse over some enemy units and it gives you a distance range?

No, I actually mean a range expressed as number.
You don't have to be experimenting to find out your units range. (like firing little animals in starcraft)

I think he might mean "hotkey"-ing groups. As in setting your Archers to "5", your pikemen to "3" and your cavarly at "2".

Oh. In that case, yes, I think it was the first.
