Good luck to all forumners seeking the coveted "1000th post". _________________ "Addiction can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only be changed."

Prizes? Wouldn't that involve the authors spending money on the forumites? Hardly...
There might be some kind of congratulation, but otherwise I doubt it. Sorry Fuego. _________________ Blake: "Tally ho, chocks away old chap"

It's not going to be that long of a wait. Today or tomorrow I'd say. We had fifty posts yesterday. 25 of them were me mind you but still that says today or tomorrow. 1000th poster will get a panel of original art signed by Dave, unless Dave doesn't agree to that (I haven't spoken to him about it.) whereupon they would get... um... nothing. _________________ Mercy is the mark of a great man.

Dammit, I now know that because a prize is at stake I'm guaranteed not to get the 1000th post. It's just a rule of my life, I never win anything. Dammit...
And Fuego, I was joking too. It probably didn't come across that way but while I was being serious about the infinitely large pictures I can make, it was all in jest. _________________ Blake: "Tally ho, chocks away old chap"

As of this morning we had 925 eh... Since then we've gotten to about 1015. 35 of which have been me. I can't be doing too badly for an intern, it seemsthat most of your members don't get past that rank...
[edit] WOOT!! I'm now a shift worker! Mike can't bitch at me now! Not that he did before, but anyhow... _________________ Blake: "Tally ho, chocks away old chap"

-Joel, you let the Forumners take over your thread. For shame.
-I FINALLY see the post where Dan suggests a prize. _________________ "Addiction can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only be changed."

Pardon the necroposting, but I felt inclined to throw some cents to the topic.
I remember once going to see the Ninth Gate. I don't know if you're familiar with it, but something notable about it was that Johnny Depp pretty much is lighting up a cigarette in every scene he's in. I remember telling my sister after leaving the film, "Damn, I can't help wanting a cigarette after watching him smoke so much." I'd already tried cigarettes about a year prior to this movie and become an off-and-on smoker, but it always stood out in my mind that it brought on that craving.
My father was a smoker throughout my childhood and growing up. I had allergic reactions to the second hand smoke, so I knew it was bad for me then. Still, at 19, stressed, being offered one by my sister among friends, I figured I'd try anyway. So I think, even with people knowing it's bad, they can end up trying it because they see so many doing it anyway and get curious. Maybe seeing a movie or two with a moment or so of smoking might not do any harm, but thinking back to the Ninth Gate, maybe seeing it so much does add to the watcher's curiosity.
Is it so bad then to give a slight adjustment in rating for smoking in a film then? I agree with Dave that I wouldn't mind a movie getting PG rating if it's a G movie with someone smoking in it. I might even go so far as to say PG13, depending on the circumstances of the film and its characters.
On a side note, I had to admit, when I saw the comic with you giving the MPAA the bird, I thought it was because of their recent attacks on torrent sites, like Torrent Spy. |

If you really want good levity on this topic watch "Thank You For Smoking." I know there's a book on it, but I don't read. _________________ Anyone who says money can't buy happiness doesn't have enough money. |
