See Joel is why I attend school. Because I feel it is my job to help teachers realize that life is not worthless and there is still at least one 'kid' in this world that cares about being intelligent despite the fact that she already has her classmates beaten by 10 miles. (some maybe only 5 miles). _________________ ~jynx~

Seriously I skipped about half the posts and went straight to post a comment of my own here. You want to talk education to today's youth you gotta argue with me. First off I could give a shit about what toys a child plays with when growing up, that has absolutely NOTHING to do with how a person will act when they grow older. The PARENT must step in and teach their child, bottom line. You want to see what happens when you get raised by a TV or no one? I have to look no further than the students I see every day here at this job. It sickens me and saddens me to the point where I see how humanity is slowing regressing in intelligence, logic and common fucking sense. How is it that common sense is so uncommon among the youth today? Anyone have a reason why we are raising our youth to be complete consumers? I see 10 year olds with cell phones when their parents don't have one. How does that make ANY sense at all? People are just fucking dumb and it's not getting any better.
Have a nice day!
I concur. I've been counseling and teaching teens for about 16 years now (on a voluntary basis) and I have to agree with Joel - it's all about proper parenting. The kids who's parents were involved found themselves benefiting from the classroom and tutoring sessions, but the kids that were dropped off to be "baby-sat" would waste my time and theirs as I tried to motivate them to be interested. _________________ Conan! Yeah speaking of motivating kids. I'm done with this sector of the workforce. I'm not going to do this shit ever again. Having to deal with unmotivated youth sucks ass. I've worked with hundreds of youth that were headed down a bad path over the last 4 years. I stated in another post somewhere that it was worth it, even though I only set a few of them on a good path. I think I've done enough "parenting" for teenagers over the last 4 years, I don't want to do this shit anymore. For all that I've done I see so few actually get the message and understand what it is I was trying to do for them. Basically I ended up being a sort of surrogate parent; and that is TOTAL bullshit. _________________ Anyone who says money can't buy happiness doesn't have enough money.
