So I've noticed this past week that I really don't have anyone or anything to respond to in the forums except the occasional forumite. It's possible that everyone who is normally posting during these times is on vacation or not near a computer, but seriously I've been sitting in my office for the last 2 weeks going through old threads that were dead and posting to those. Apparently those threads died from lack of interest as I'm currently looking at the last poster to 80% of the threads is myself. Anyway I'm just typing out of sheer boredom here since I don't have anything to do for the next 4 hours; due to the fact all of my normal responsibilities at my job have been streaming over to my other coworkers. I've got 5 days left here at this job and I've actually got nothing to do now. So again I've been here for 22 months and I've learned exactly ONE thing, no matter how much time and effort you put in; a bad investment is a bad investment.
So the good thing is I'm out of this soul grinder of a job; the bad thing is I still haven't received any leads on interviews from the last batch of applications I sent out in early July. So I need to go hunting for a job again, guess that's my luck.
Not quite certain why, but I've been extremely frustrated with my own state of being. I can look at the last few months and see that there is a pattern of dissappointment and failures so that may add more weight behind the general feeling of bitterness towards the job market. I'm not at all certain if it's more bitterness, loathing, anger or anxiety that I look at the next step in my career. Maybe I will end up eating my own words and going back to school for a higher degree, who knows at this point? I may end up trying for some type of law enforcement again, I may end up finding something completely off the beaten path, but again I'm not sure if I feel excitment, anxiety or relief that I'm leaving my current job. Perhaps I'm just harping on a minor point, but I still can't help feeling a little confused with my future job situation.
Perhaps I just needed to put this whole rant down into words since my thinking has been extremely muddled for the past few months, I'm still certain that I can't think as clearly now as I did before I started this job. My brain isn't functioning like it used to and that's another thing that bothers me. I wonder if this job has "dumbed me down" or if it's something else. It could be that I just haven't had a good night's sleep in a long time or it could be that I just really can't connect the dots like I used to before this job.
I think I just turned this post into a blog more than anything else =P I look at this post now and I see absolutely no trend connecting the paragraphs and I wonder if I should just go to the range to blow some stuff up. *Shrug* _________________ Anyone who says money can't buy happiness doesn't have enough money. |

Going to the range is probably a good idea.
As for not posting, as far as my own situation goes, I have the problem you had a while ago: I am now currently swamped with work with little time between tasks.
I do try to get in a word or three here and there. _________________ "Addiction can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only be changed."

You have plenty of Tech Monkeys, Office Folk, and Creators to do that. Just wave a stick at them or something. _________________ "Addiction can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only be changed."

A baseball bat is better, the sound of the aluminum smacking bone sounds awesome. _________________ Anyone who says money can't buy happiness doesn't have enough money. |

And if you've noticed, I've been fairly regular about sweeping in behind you and posting up/responding to what you write. I am rather adamant about trying to keep some conversations/threads going and I also search through the older threads for ways to bring them back/back to relevance.
Also (hmmm...."Also" and "I'm Just Saying" seem to be two of my more well used phrases. Dan, pay attention), if you've bothered to notice (;p) I have been posting up quite a few links to content with write ups, descriptions, and/or opinions tacked on. I am definitely making a effort to add to what is on here. Its just this last week or so of party thats cramped my efforts to contribute.
SO there. You big meanie.
In terms of the job, just keep looking around for now. It wouldn't hurt to try and submit into whatever other fields you think you're qualified for/would like. At the very basic level you just need a occupation where you're boss doesn't totally down you and yet rely on you completely to get everything done. If you could earn your salary and get some recognition out of that, that alone would be a good jump on your soon to be former job and a definite step in the right direction.
Also, you smell of elderberries. _________________ <(@_@<), <(@_@)>, (>@_@)>, <(@_@)>, <(@_~)>, <(@_@)>, <(@_@<) |

Not the best idea. They'll sink the interest into trying to bolster Social Security and they'll probably garnish and tax your returns so you just may end up with less than you started with. _________________ <(@_@<), <(@_@)>, (>@_@)>, <(@_@)>, <(@_~)>, <(@_@)>, <(@_@<) |

On the plus side you'd get your certs and leeway in regards to ownerships as well as access to material networks. _________________ <(@_@<), <(@_@)>, (>@_@)>, <(@_@)>, <(@_~)>, <(@_@)>, <(@_@<) |

The military actually pays their guys pretty well. My dad worked for pay roll for a couple of months and told me about all the bonuses guys can get for shutting up and doing whatever they're told, plus hazard pay. Though they encourage people to get married by doubling your pay if you do. _________________ ~jynx~
