Just felt like chiming in here about what's actually a good album to pick up. It's too damn hard to sort through all the processed cheese and get to the burger with the way the music industry is right now. I listen to the radio in the morning and it's pretty much the same crap on a rotation. I hear a glimpse of greatness every now and then but it's usually fleeting. Trying to find anything good is a task is far too time consuming. So if you've got an album that you think is worth the plastic its burned on please post em up here. I'm sure this thread can stay alive for quite a while.

We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to bring you this special news announcment.
Arturo, "Parsifal," was found dead today in his cubicle. An apparent victim of severe blunt trauma to the base of the skull, possibly inflicted by a 2x4 or similar instrument. Details are sketchy at best right now. We will continue to follow this late breaking story and update you when we learn more about this glorious tragedy.
We now return to your regularly scheduled programming.

had a wierd moment remembering when dan and talked about whether we wanted a music section or not. guess it found its way in anyway, can't stop the rock

of course you guys are welcome to talk about whatever.

i'm not too happy with a lot of the new music lately. the good news is there's so much stuff i haven't even heard of yet, there is hope of finding something new to like.

as of now i would buy anything white stripes or with jack white participating in it.

Dude, Raconteurs. Jack White also produced a small album by the Von Bondies. Check them out. They've got that Detroit Blues Rock thing going hard. Smile

Interesting bit of information, which I will probably get blasted for from someone. Wink Went out and bought the last Linkin Park album last week on release day. For the most part it sounds like stuff you would hear in the top 40 or MTV teens area. Now people that know me know damn well how much I can't stand the preprocessed crap that spews out of the local top 40 stations down here, but after actually sitting down and hearing the tracks I must say this is something that I liked. Might take a bit to get past what some will say is the tried and true method for pop music, but the album as a whole didn't really sound like anything I can remember, in pop music or any other genre, in recent memory. Maybe I'm just a sell out too, who knows? Rolling Eyes

You can like things that suck...i do.

I think most music died in the 80s and the rest at the end of the 90s. Occasionally there is something out that can be called music. But I have to get my music fill anyway, so I listen to anything and everything.

Dunno if I can actually say I listen to anything and everything anymore, used to be a time when I could say that with no snickering. Don't really know what happened there; OH that's right the music industry went to shit. I just get this odd feeling whenever I go to a concert. Last 2 concerts I went to were Eric Clapton and Avenged Sevenfold, both times I felt totally out of place, which is a fairly good explaination of me anyway. Wink (BTW Danny, original version of "Layla" with the piano solo and everything) I was probably one of the outliers for age on the youngers side at the Clapton concert, minus the GRANDKIDS there. At the Avenged Sevenfold concert I was an outlier for age on the older spectrum, ask James it was kind of funny walking around and knowing that if you got into a fight with most of the people there that you would probably go to jail for assaulting a minor. Wink Well either way not sure what criteria I have for good music, I like listening to a lot of different things but if I really had to nail down a genre of preference I'd have to say metal and the less whiny punk stuff. Oh yeah, if ya like I can name bands/groups that I can't stand anymore, but I dunno if I'd cause a stirring in the forums with that. Wink

Yeah, put down a list of stuff you DON'T like (I know your musical tastes are somewhat broader than most, so it should be a shorter list than the stuff you DO like) so I'm not wasting your time and mine suggesting something distasteful.
