I just got Smackdown Vs. Raw 2008 and it's pretty much the same as lat years except doing submissions is more work (as in you have to work to keep the hold on your opponent and also you have to try to unlock the hold) the fighting styles make a diffrence in your finishing move (like if you have a dirty style you do dirty finishing moves only AFTER locking in your style).
Storylines aren't so bad, but they could be better and I actually like 24/7 mode. Although I'm still playing my first season as John Cena (yes I'm a frickin fan girl), and I'm playing at regular stats instead of beginners, I'm liking the game very much. To win over fans and gain more money, you do side things like attend movie premieres, make promos, go out on dates with divas, give to charity, go to signings, make movies ect, but they're all simulated, you can fail, have a sucess or a big sucess. I've only failed once and that was making a hero movie. There is also two ways to improve skills. You can improve your fighting skills by doing matches when you have a day off according to the skill you wanna improve for instance when you wanna improve strength they give you the challenge of doing 10 ultimate grapple moves on your oppenent in 2 mins, but they choose who you fight, ususally someone who's involeved in a story line with you. You can simulate these.
The other way of improving your skill is to pay for them. Like mic skills, fan poularity skills, or how much you want themto hate you. Theses help you with winning over fans doing movies stuff like that. These too, are simulated.
Like in the other game you can also invade the shows, but you have more of a chance of getting injured, but this time it's not simulated, you actually go.
I have yet to play GM mode, but it's probably more interactive then last year.
You can simulate matches, but that's a down point for me because I like to play out my matches, and when you're doing your match you can either play as your superstar or as your oppenent. And no, there's no playing as your favorite diva or bra and panties matches.
Along with not playing as your divas, you can't play as ANY ECW superstar in season (24/7) mode, which sucks cause I wanted to play as CM Punk, but they will appear in your season, and you can play them in other modes.
Hall of famer mode is cool because you have to play legendary matches like to get the chance to buy Bret Hart you have to do an ironman match with him using Shawn Michaels (yay! <3) on legned mode and so on and so on.
I've only played it on PS3 so I don't know how it is on other systems but it's supposed to be awesome on the Wii (ooo! I want one so bad!) overall, it's pretty good. If you want you can get the special edition for like ten bucks more, and you get a tin case with Rey Mysterio on it and Kelly Kelly on the inside, collectable Kelly Kelly trading card, bonus blue ray disc/DVD, and a mini book featuring move of a select few wrestlers.
Oh yes another down point, to get Eddie G on the PS3 version (as said before I don't know about others) you have to get the game for psp (boooo!) _________________ IT'S OVER 9000!!!!!!!!! |
