DailyTech says The Falcon Has Landed
One brave soul (going by the GamerTag JWSpeed) has risked Life, Limb, and Voided Warranty to bring us th news that the long awaited "Falcon" chipset has finally been spotted inside of a newer production model of Xbox 360.
In case you weren't aware, Xbox 360 consoles have a problem. Or 12. The biggest problem is that they create a lot of heat while running. This wouldn't be so bad if the thing actually knew what to /do/ with it. Seeing as how the original layouts were rather fundamentally flawed we ended up with tons of systems just crapping out solely because the heatsinks sucked and kind of actually funneled the heat onto the processor in some cases.
For those of you who were sitting on the fence until a more reliable/attractive model arrive, then barring a newer one later with built in Wi-Fi, this is it. The new chip/heatsink layout is pretty much what they should have done in the first place but were too much of a rush to do. Runs cooler, quieter, uses less power, has a HDMI input. A good deal, really.
For those of you who got yours early, Consider this a big FU from Microsoft with their thanks for buying the system (Hi Dee!). You money/interest helped to get te funding required to smooth the gaming bliss of those yet to come. Good job!
Read up at the link above for more info and follow the other links if you wish a more indepth idea of the heat problem. _________________ <(@_@<), <(@_@)>, (>@_@)>, <(@_@)>, <(@_~)>, <(@_@)>, <(@_@<) |
