I present to you, the Perks Trailer. This clip highlights one of the many customization systems available for the multiplayer portion of "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare", the "Perks System"
At its very simplest, Perks grant a a special ability or bonus to the player. Things such as extra health, extra gear (like explosives), radar invisibility, and a steadier running aim to just name a few. You have three slots in which to assign one perk each and each slot has its own unique set of perks so you have to pick and choose what set you want at any given time since choosing on automatically eliminates a whole group as an option.
As you play and perform tasks (kill x oppenents in one lift, accumulate a "carreer total" of explosively destroyed objectives, kill x players in one airstrike, etc.) and gain experience and level up you will unlock more perks to your slot groups. You name and save your perk set ups (along with customizations such as weapons load-outs, equipment and mods) to profiles which you can switch in and out of whenever you wish (though if you are presently "on the board" they won't take effect until your next respawn).
Perhaps later I will rename this thread and edit this to provide more general game info, but for now enjoy the video. It shows a specific combat scenario and carries it through to resolution before rewinding back to the start and then going through again, this time showing the perks selected by the combatants and highlighting them as they come into place. Its pretty fun stuff. _________________ <(@_@<), <(@_@)>, (>@_@)>, <(@_@)>, <(@_~)>, <(@_@)>, <(@_@<)
Earlier in the year (the end of July) the makers of the "Call of Duty" series, Infinity Ward decided to post up their lead concept sketches for the box art and let the community vote on which one they preferred and tell them why they did or didn't like the concepts. Those can be viewed here.
As you can see by comparing the concepts to the final they pretty much went with Charlie (which I thought showed off the Blackhawks and infantry fast roping down quite nicely) and moved the images a little so the title wasn't placed over the other soldiers heads, obscuring them.
Personally I dropped my vote for Bravo but suggested they fade it a little where the shafts of light weren't to give more of a smoke/dust effect while allowing definition in the main images, but nowhere to the same degree as Echo. _________________ <(@_@<), <(@_@)>, (>@_@)>, <(@_@)>, <(@_~)>, <(@_@)>, <(@_@<)

Even more Perk-related goodness. This once again comes from the official "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" site. Here, for your viewing pleasure, is a collection of videos showcasing just a few of the multiplayer perks and the mechanics behind them. Some even give comparisons between having them and not having them such as the reload time difference involved in slotting the "Sleight of Hand" perk using the M249 SAW.
