Dan only appears to be leering at the pretty blonde that walks by him, but notice that the blonde only thinks that Dan was leering because SHE turned around to look at him. If she didn't turn to have a look at the mustachioed young man walking by that piqued her interest, she'd never notice that said man was "looking at her".

Guys, Gals, I'm asking for your comments, and to share your experiences related to today's strip. Any misunderstandings between the sexes that led to a good (or bad) outcome? Feel that one sex has an edge over the other?

I'll start with some of my "Awesome Because I Didn't Know Better" moments:

It's the first day at one of my art classes. It's early morning. I had no sleep, I'm scruffy, disheveled (spell check), and fairly out of it. A hot girl walks in with a cup of coffee. She's walking by me. Out of nowhere I state, "Wow that smells really good. And the coffee doesn't smell that bad either." Girl stops, looks at me, and before she can comment, "Hi, I'm Dave. Have a seat." She did. We just talked. She gave up her number without me ever asking for it.

And for the retardo move: I'm in class. The teacher has announced a field trip and the students are arranging for rides. Cute girl comes up to me and asks if I could provide a ride to her. I oblige. She then offers me her number so we can "figure out the details". I, in all my HSO glory reply, "No, it's okay. I'll just meet you here an hour before the trip." So yeah... I did end up going out with her sometime later, but she did explain how I totally rejected her offer there.

So what I've learned: Dave = totally oblivious when in all his senses; on the ball when just the right amount of "out of it" is added.

Thus... Oblivious is the central theme... sometimes for good, sometimes for retarded.

I don't really have too many accidental successes. More or less of the time I know what I'm doing. I guess the closest thing to it was playing the "Oh you're way out of my league" card. It was true even though I was joking, but I was saying it with that arrogance. Worked out okay.

The all time dumbass move I had was when I was a shy bitch in 9th grade. I was sitting next to the girl I had a crush on during a bus ride... then saw another open seat and jumped over because her friend "made fun of me for sitting with her." She looked bummed, I missed out, whateva.
