Ugh, that sucks. *gives Mike a hug and a cookie*
I hate phones. I get nervous practically every time I use one, and I would be happy to never have to use one in my job.
... yet I've just applied for a seasonal job at a call center, taking phone orders, because I need to get some money even if I hate it. >_< |

I was calling the IRS today. First person asked me the nature of the call so they could transfer me to a specialist, waited on hold for a minute or two, and then talked to said specialist. The Library of Congress was another matter entirely. Apparently I need to start calling from 5 am PST (bastards are only working on East Coast aka Fairy-Land time) if I want a shot at getting through. _________________ <(@_@<), <(@_@)>, (>@_@)>, <(@_@)>, <(@_~)>, <(@_@)>, <(@_@<) |

This brought me memories
I once worked, at a printers distributor (I won't say the name) as the one in charge of ordering the deliveries (I was replacing to the original guy who was on vacations), there were many sales people around, so if a client called at my phone I transferred it to a salesman/saleswoman that wouldn't be busy, otherwise it would get automatically transferred, one day i transferred a call and less than two minutes later I got it back!!, every sales person was busy!! I had to apologize to the client and everything. _________________ "just imagine a good signature, and then put it here" |

I remember working collections. When the person on the other end was really cool, I would do what I could to help them out: Set them up with REAALLY low payments, cut interest, etc. When the other person was hostile, I would do everything in my power to remind them that I had control, not them. Trust me, it was only reserved for the worst. Which reminds me... one guy threatened me with bodily harm. I recited the dude's SSN, Name, Address, place of business, and the names of his family. I didn't say anything else. He got the point: Don't threaten strangers, you never know how much they know about you. I'm not the kind of person to go out and do something STUPID, but I knew people who worked collections... some of them were... um... "unstable"...
Oh, here's a favorite of mine:
Angry caller: "I DEMAND TO TALK TO THE PERSON IN CHARGE"
Dave: "Okay"
Angry caller: "Well!?"
Dave: "You said you wanted to talk to the person in charge."
Angry caller: "Aren't you going to transfer me!?"
Dave: "I thought you said you wanted to talk to the person in charge? You're talking to him. What can I do for you?"
Angry caller: "..."
Moral of the above stories: Be reasonably cool with people, they tend to be more helpful and less likely to screw with you. _________________ "Addiction can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only be changed."
