I get the feeling no one's gonna wanna talk about this, but oh well...

I'm wondering what's gonna happen in book seven of the ever popular Harry Potter series, I get the feeling that J.K. Rowling (or however you spell that name) is just gonna kill off everyone...

And for people who plan to read six and have yet to, stop here.

Unless Harry dies in the beginning of book 7, Dumbledore's not dead... I mean if she's only doing for the movies, she's needs to reread her own work... BTW isn't it ironic how Dumbledore's supposed to be some genius and he had 'dumb' in the beginning of his last name?

Well, the big debate on the book is whether snape is good or evil. But no matter how you swing it killing someone is evil, so unless dumbledore magickly isnt dead...snape is evil. As for Harry...well we can only hope.

Killing is the ending on a life. Its the motivations behind the act that quantify it as "good" or "evil. And some would argue that even then the distinction is totally arbitrary

There's definitely debate as to whether or not Snape actually killed Dumbledore. If memory serves, many Harry Potter sleuths seem to think that there's some chicanery regarding Snape's casting of the killing curse and the color of the beam that shot out from his wand, subsequently. The strongest evidence as to his goodness, it seems, is his utter refusal to allow Harry to cast an unforgivable curse during his "escape," which coincides with his steadfast yet often-times harsh protectiveness over Harry.

On a different note: if you believe in foreshadowing, then it's going to be Ron that dies to save Harry in the end. Remember the chess board in book 1?

Killing is socially acceptable in certain situations, now I dunno about the people on these boards but when I say "socially acceptable" I mean you aren't persecuted by laws of the state/country.
1. In defense of yourself or defense of another in the face of lethal force or if you feel a life was in danger.
2. War...open to interpretation, to me anyway Confused

The motivations behind it well that's getting into the whole "intent" argument of the law. Don't really care for it much, but then again that's why I never wanted to be a lawyer. Wink

Killing is socially acceptable... as long as it is killing Dave for being oblivious about Bianca Twisted Evil

Killing is socially acceptible as long as some with a lot of power has something to gain. No one gains anything from Dave's death.

I agree about the ron thing except ron has to marry hermone first...or at least they have to kiss.

Killing is only acceptable in one instance: when meting out justice, hopefully Divine justice. I say "hopefully" because it's usually hard to tell what The Divine Will is.

Yes, Ron must kiss Hermione and profess his long unrequited love for her...just before he dies.

Apparently this topic has morphed into "The Ethics of Murder."

In a perfect world the love would stay unrequited. He'd die right as he was about to make his confession. mwuah hahahaha

I still think it would be more cruel to have him confess his love before dying because Hermione would then have to live with that for the rest of her life. Or commit seppuku.
