Oh please, do not go there. We've already revisited LARPing *gags* lets not tempt fate and actual discuss furries as well. What's next, tentacle porn? _________________ Conan! What is best in life?

Hey, Furries and Fur-suiters are two different things. The former just sort of likes the whole anthropomorphic animals deal and the latter (which can fall as a subsection of the former, like a unwashed D&Der can under RPGer) dresses up for sexual gratification and the oftentimes shock/horror/amusement of the general geek populace.
Just cosplaying still falls under Furry (or geek in general, really) until you try and get jiggy. With it. _________________ <(@_@<), <(@_@)>, (>@_@)>, <(@_@)>, <(@_~)>, <(@_@)>, <(@_@<)

Yeah, and you well know that we're not into any of that, despite James trying to pin it on me _________________ "Addiction can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only be changed."

Ok, Ok, Ok. Cosplaying as a hot anime or video game character is one thing, but dressing up as a...a...RACCOON to get your "pickle in the jar" is quite another! You can even dress up as an animal character (Scooby-Doo, Brain, Ein, etc.) and I wouldn't bat an eyelash, but the minute you say something like, "Dude, Minnie Mouse is totally hot!" I just think you should "have your eggs beaten" until they're black and blue. Just my opinion. _________________ Conan! What is best in life?

Once again I'll refer you back to that Kevin & Bean radio segment about cartoon/comic characters that people think are hot (Dave can repost the link if he wants). Its a very widespread thing. As a kid knowing only cartoon characters you sort of project feelings you're not really sure of onto that. People grow up and start assigning that to other people but hang on to a bit of that. Not that big a deal. _________________ <(@_@<), <(@_@)>, (>@_@)>, <(@_@)>, <(@_~)>, <(@_@)>, <(@_@<)

There's quite a chasm between crushing on a character when you're 9 and lurking at AnimeExpo to pick up on "hot furries" at the tender age of 27! Not accusing anybody here, but just for the sake of argument, you know. Also, I think you're missing the point entirely: the reason why furries are disgusting is not that they're imaginary characters or that they're animated - it's the fact that they're ANIMALS! If you think it's OK to have the hots for a Chihuahua then I can refer you to a professional who can help you with that problem. Furries are a gateway fetish, don't you know that? I mean, what's next, necrophilia? _________________ Conan! What is best in life?

No, next would be beastiality. Actually, first would peobably be developing a pulshy fetish, then beastiality.
Honestly, I prefer to draw a distinction between Furries and Furverts. Sure there's a shadowy gray area, but the clinical definition of a paraphilia is not the arousal by a stimulis but the lack of arousal in it's abesce. (i.e. you don't have a problem when you think the girl with the cat ears is hot, you have a problem when you're not attracted to a hot girl because she DOESN'T have cat ears.) _________________ Mercy is the mark of a great man.
